Projects helping many children stay in school
International Child Care Ministries: Projects in Kenya
Shoe Distribution

We organized the project to cater to all the sponsored children in all our schools across the
country.
We acknowledge that shoes protect feet from injury and disease and help to
prevent the spread of parasitic infections such as jiggers and hookworms. The joy spelled
out in the children’s faces spoke of fulfillment!
Vocational Bible Study

We cater to our children spiritual growth as one of our core pillars in the mission and vision of the organization.
The program was designed to help the children to know their God-given potential and utilize it to serve others, their families and the community at large.
The children engage in various activities such as Bible study, Bible trivia, painting and coloring Bible characters, reciting memory verses and so much more!
Vocational Bible Study

This is usually one for the books! Food sharing is a tradition that is highly embraced in the Kenyan soil. It helps to connect people, build relationships and friendships across different
cultures. We share food items and food vouchers with our children, their parents and
teachers. The word to summarize this exercise was Excellence!
Backpack Distribution

All our schools across the country are day-going schools. Hence, backpacks are important to
a student on a daily basis.
We acknowledge that a comfortable carry-on backpack will enable a student carry their luggage with ease and prevent them from any back injury.
It was heart warming to see the children tossing away their old rugged backpacks to enjoy
their new acquired ones!
Water Filters

We have supplied hundreds of water filters to schools and families to aid in filtering out harmful bacteria in the water they use for consumption.
This project has helped many children stay in school and not home due to sickness.
Parents and teachers have experienced the benefit of these filters both at home and in school and have continued to encourage the use of these water filters to teach the children good hygiene practices especially in areas where there is no clean running water.
SOLAR LIGHTS

Solar lights allow ICCM children to continue to read and learn in the dark, especially in rural areas where there is unstable or no electricity at all.
We have distributed several kits to our schools for the children to use. This has ensured they are able to do their homework with ease even after darkness falls.
The solar study lights have Zero maintenance costs.
FOOD DRIVE

Covid 19 saw many families struggle to get their daily meal. There were massive job loses, business closures and many other factors that disrupted the family unit.
Food security was the most affected. ICCM Kenya thought of the affected children within the program and decided to help by purchasing shopping vouchers that were redeemable in form of food items at the supermarket.
In rural areas, food items were bought and shared amongst the families, by the ICCM staff team.
Uniform Distribution

In 2019 and 2021, we distributed new school uniforms to all our sponsored children in all 12 schools.
Through our partnership with Wunders and Baraka women Group, we have ensured that all our beneficiaries had new uniforms for school when the new school year begins.
Animal Projects

Animals benefit children at ICCM Kenya by producing nutritional and economic benefits for their families.
We have issued cows and chickens to some of our children. They rear these animals and get milk, eggs, and more chicken for sale and consumption.
Building and Repairs

ICCM Kenya has helped restore the image of some of our schools through building and repairs of classrooms. Recently, a classroom fell due to heavy rains in a school in Masat, Siaya County in the West of Kenya.
Luckily, schools were closed and there were no pupils on site. We were able to build a new classroom for the children before schools reopened.
We have also built classrooms in Mathare and Kibera Free Methodist Schools and a toilet in Kibera Free Methodist School.
